Jon Cryer is 'jazzed' about future of 'Two and a Half Men'
Good morning! USA TODAY's Olivia Barker here, updating throughout the weekend.
Ashton Kutcher's new other half, Jon Cryer, has opened up -- and giddily so -- about the changes rocking the set of his old CBS show.
"I'm jazzed about the news this morning that Two and a Half Men is coming back!" he said yesterday in a statement that was notably diplomatic, praising both his former, now infamous co-star and his new, wildly popular one.
"I want to express my enormous gratitude to Charlie Sheen for eight great seasons," Cryer, 46, said. "I'm extremely proud of the work we've done together, and I will miss him. But I'm also looking forward to this new beginning.
"Ashton is an extraordinarily talented guy, and his presence will be an asset to our show." Seeming sincerity aside, Cryer then went for the deadpan: "We are old friends from our male modeling days, and we're both looking forward to being judged for our comedic artistry, as opposed to our exceptional physical beauty."
Maybe Cryer's diplomacy inspired Sheen, who sounded bitter in an earlier statement reacting to the Two and a Half news, to tweet an olive branch? "#Winning Congrats to the cast and crew...CBS & WB..! My best to @aplusk !! The show must go on... You got the right guy! c."
Kutcher sounded, well, jazzed by the shout-out: "#2.5 @charliesheen Thank man. Always been a fan, always will be! BTW you were 'born big.'"
