Lily Allen isn't afraid to be controversial on Twitter

Lily Allen and writer Julie Burchillare having a vicious battle of words - over Cheryl Cole.

Julie loved how Cheryl, 27, retaliated to one of Lily's comments when they were feuding in 2007 - and decided to say so.

'I adore the way she [Cheryl] spat back at that over-priveleged cry-baby Lily Allen when the public-school took took a poke at her way back in the day,' Julie wrote in The Sun, which didn't go down well with Lily.

'Julie Birchill, you are an ignorant and bitter old troll, but I guess you know that already,' Lily, 26, Tweeted on Tuesday in response to the piece.�

Julie replied to Lily's Tweet via the Evening Standard: 'It was partly over Cole, but partly because Allen had said some ignorant sh*t about the working class and I wrote what a nerve she had as a public school mockney. Oooh, I do love a scrap.' �

Lily then called the journalist a 'snob' and a 'self loather', but Julie has had the last word, so far.

'No, Lily, dear. I love me. I loathe you!' the 51-year-old has retorted. 'And BTW being called self-loathing by you is like being called fat by Dawn French. Clown!'
